The play with warp, weft and pile can create innumerable textural options in carpets. Different weaving techniques can be employed – Persian knot, Turkish knot, Nepalese weave, soumak weave, dhurries & kilims, tufting, handloom, etc. Each construction produces its own distinct handwriting in the end-product. Similarly, the washing and finishing of rugs can differ. You can have varying pile heights, high and low embossing, oxidized finishes, washed-out patinas, etc. |
